In the pretty and quaint village of Maussane-les-Alpilles, a short distance from the Les Baux-de-Provence of France, sits the majestic and regal Chabran estate with its 18th century Provencal Mas. Evoking a heady and impressive aura and history, this stately French residence was in fact in existence from as far back as the 16th century. Set in sprawling French gardens, it can be characterised as a bourgeois house teeming in luxury that has since been given a new lease of life by architects for its rooms and some building structure. Le Mas De Chabran was originally an oil mill built on a field of more than 300 olive trees at the foot of the Massif des Alpilles and comprises just a master building with horse rides to operate the presses. It was since converted and transformed over generations from what it was initially intended for into a home that is steeped in grandeur from its size, scale, detailing to the surrounding beauty.
Le Mas De Chabran consists of 8 charming and resplendent bedrooms to accommodate a total of 16 guests within such exceptional settings. These rooms had undergone some restoration works in order to be outfitted to exacting standards and be ready to receive guests. Sleeping arrangements for all rooms are configured in king-sized bedding, and each room is done up in its own personality and trait from the layout of the fittings and decor, to the position of the respective beds and elements that differentiate one from the other. What remains similar though, are the consistent use of the colour scheme for the walls and wooden flooring, and all rooms come with their own ensuite bathrooms which all echo the look that’s edgy, raw and sleek, and televisions for in-room entertainment. Meanwhile, only Bedroom 8 connects to an outdoor terrace area where guests can lounge around to take in the whole magnificence and splendour.
From the outside, an impressive stone gateway leads guests to sun-drenched lawns of greens in the most expansive grounds, which also features an ornate stone fountain, cultivated vegetable garden, a henhouse and even a forest that will definitely have guests floored. The magic of the bright and warm rays of sunbathes the large vaulted rooms and makes it pleasurable for suntanning on the sun loungers by the large pool at the foot of the centenary olive trees in Provence, from which guests can swim and dip all the day long in. The setting of the Alpilles is indeed idyllic, natural and rejuvenating to recharge the mind and soul.
The interiors of Le Mas De Chabran are exceptionally exquisite and tasteful, thanks to the careful care and pains taken to ensure top-notch products are used to recreate the luxurious living from the good days of yore. Noble and natural materials like clay, sand, lime and horsehair are used while warm hues that reflect the earth and stone themed-layout. There are 2 common living spaces through the residence, which are opulently decorated and furnished with plush cushions, sofas and furniture that truly live up to the billing of what La Mas De Chabran is reputed as. The flooring is left in its sparse, raw wooden look, yet all the pieces are so richly put together whether it is the centrepiece table, side desk or bookshelf lined with books. The dining space is grand in a separate hall altogether that is reminiscent of a regal dining affair from the past, while the dark mahogany kitchen fully-equipped with all the necessities, utensils and more makes cooking sessions elaborately elegant just like how French cuisine is reputedly known to be so around the world.
Five-star housekeeping services are what guests can look forward to while staying at Le Mas De Chabran. A host of add-on services can also be arranged simply by just advising the trip designer to make your stay even more memorable. Among the add on services include airport transfer, car rental, fresh grocery shopping, chef and butler for hire, child care assistance, restaurant concierge, spa treatment services, equipment rental and other family gear that is needed. There is also a sanctified chapel erected at the bottom of the garden which guests can use to meditate and pray in serenity, while children can have their fun in their wooden cabin at the edge of the small woods.
