Thambili House is a 300-years-old colonial holiday holiday retreat located in Galle Fort on the South Coast of Sri Lanka. The house was owned by a Dutch cinnamon trader back in the colonial times and it has been renovated to meet modern-day standards of luxury living. Staying right in the heart of the historic Galle Fort is something truly special and it is quite a rare opportunity to seize. With arches, pillars, wood lattices and breezy verandas, this place exudes old-world-charm, lavishness, refinement and luxury. An amazing stay!
Thambili House has 3 luxurious bedrooms: The Cinnamon Suite, The Ginger Suite and the Nutmeg Suite. All 3 bedrooms are equipped with AC and they are furnished with antique four-poster beds draped in mosquito netting. The Ginger Suite has 2 double beds, perfect for families and it opens up to a terrace with pool and lighthouse views. The Nutmeg suite boasts a balcony with sea views a large soaking bathtub. All of the rooms have a private en-suite bathroom with a rain shower and dual washbasins.
The garden is surrounded by lush tropical greenery and the curvy swimming pool is tiled with natural green stones, making it look like a beautiful natural oasis. Sunbeds are placed on the stone terrace by the poolside and on the covered terrace there are rattan sofas and there is the alfresco dining area.
The living room is furnished with colonial antiques and decorated with hand-picked art and framed photos mounted to the walls. The place exudes old-world-charm and sophistication. There are comfortable armchairs and hand-carved wooden sofas. There are dark wood cabinets and coffee tables and the dining table features lovely pool views, situated on the covered terrace by the side of the pool.
At Thambili House you get to enjoy butler services. There is housekeeping staff and there is security at night.
The location of Thambili House is simply amazing right in the heart of Galle Fort. This historic place was an important trading port in the 16th century and it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. These days, Galle attracts artists, free spirits and wanderers - the town has a special ambience and there are lovely cafes and boutique shops. Go check out Galle Fort Lighthouse and stroll around the fort’s walls around sunset time. Visit the museums and go out for dinner - Galle is an important landmark and around the city, there are beautiful beaches and famous tourist towns to visit as well as gorgeous national parks where you can spot wildlife.
