Villa Vista is a lavish, multi-level property located in Mirissa, on the southern coast of Sri Lanka. It houses four bedrooms, each with an ensuite, that are able to accommodate up to nine people. The property is split into two buildings; the main villa, housing three bedrooms, the living and dining areas plus all of the amenities, and a smaller guest cottage, with an extra bedroom and its own private terrace and swimming pool.
The villa, designed by Pritzker Architecture Prize-winning architect Shigeru Ban, employs a natural modern style that highlights the texture of teak wood. The material is present in all corners of the property, giving Villa Vista the soft and warm touch that balances out the sleek edges of the fixtures. The main building has a number of grand amenities; a 60-feet (18 metres) swimming pool with movable platform, a fully-equipped fitness centre and a movie room with underwater windows that look into the pool.
Its strategic location by the hillock gives Villa Vista guests access to a number of breathtaking views from its living area; Weligama Bay, the ocean that is located further away, and the cliffs. Guests are able to explore the many beaches of the coast, without exhausting themselves too much, by staying at the villa. Such are the benefits of renting this luxurious villa.
Across the property, there are four bedrooms available, each with its own ensuite. The main house contains three bedrooms. The Master bedroom houses a king bed, while the other two contain a queen bed. Additionally, one of the bedrooms also has an extra single bed, making the main villa able to accommodate up to seven people. Over in the smaller cottage, there is a bedroom with a queen size bed, sleeping two people. Floor to ceiling glass door is fitted into each room, maximising the amount of sunlight that enters it. The mattresses are kept off the floor via a pallet-like bed frame.
The centrepiece of the Villa Vista’s outdoor area is its 60-feet (18 metres) long infinity swimming pool. It also has a movable platform that slides across it, perfect for when you want to dip your feet in the pool, but don’t want to jump in. Like the villa's namesake, the pool gives a prime view of the garden and Weligama Bay. The main villa is lined with wooden panels, allowing the air to circulate better and more sunshine to come in. It is especially gorgeous during sunrise and sunset. The estate’s tropical garden itself is expansive and well-maintained. If you take a leisurely stroll around, it is green as far as the eye can see. The guest cottage also has a private pool near its terrace.
The natural modern aesthetic is further emphasised in the living area that opens to the pool. All of the furniture and fixtures, save for the plush couches and some wall artworks, are made of teak wood. Even the ceiling and window panels are made of wood! This gives a sense of warmth to the area. There is a working space by the corner of the living area. Going downstairs, you will see a large dining table made of the same type of teak wood. Villa Vista comes with a fully-equipped kitchen and a movie room with underwater windows, where you can see into the depths of the pool.
A dedicated staff of five people is ready to assist you in achieving your perfect holiday during your stay at Villa Vista. Room darkening shades and extra pillows and blankets are available upon request. There is a fully-equipped gym available for the guests to use. Wifi is a complementary facility of the villa. You are able to park your rental car in the private driveway of the property. You will be given security access to enter the villa upon arrival.
Villa Vista is located in a strategic area in Mirissa, allowing its guests to drive to a number of beaches scattered along the coast in Mirissa, Weligama and Ahangama, all within a 20-minute scenic drive. There are plenty of restaurants around the estate, such as Yogi Cafe, The Bakery Restaurant and Horizon. For something to do, you can take a hiking trip at Secret Beach, or drive over to either Mirissa proper or Weligama, where you can take up fishing, whale watching or visit the estuary. There are also two places of worship near Villa Vista; Weluwanaramaya Temple and Samudragiri Viharaya.
